Pool Art: Designed and Completed by Ruth Spitzer. The Friends of Trinity Bellwoods initiated a call for proposals and a consultation of the playground community to select a design for the wading pool. Ruth's geometric flower design was selected. Working with the limited colors and materials which the city could provide, she, with the help of community volunteers, painted the pool in the spring of 2007. The design transformed the gray concrete from a pool used only in the summer to a playful, imaginative space which children use year round.

Yes, it was a barren landscape for a while. Yes perhaps it took a little longer for it to be installed than planned. Yes the kids were patient and 'stormed the Bastille', but it was all worth it. It's a fantastic and challenging climbing apparatus for the users of the playground. Granted, it's not entirely for the younger kids, more for those kids who have grown out of the north end apparatus (which is primarily for the younger ones) and welcome the new challenge. Oh, lest not forget the new swings and the relocation of the beloved spiral slide.
