The Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market starts up on Tuesday May 12th, 3pm to 7pm. Rain or Shine! Please come out to support this Friends initiative. It's still early in the Ontario growing season, but there'll be asparagus, arugula, wild leeks and probably fiddle heads. Along with a variety of purveyors providing delicious product to compliment your home slow-cookin. Yummy. Sigh, thus begins another season of eating fantastic local produce!
Looking forward to seeing our loyal patrons again and warmly welcome new ones.
We are on a path of eliminating plastic bags entirely from the market. So please remember to bring your own re-useable shopping bags. Thank you.

"With spring come the weeders! Once again those notorious guerilla weeders will be back in the park beds. If you also get itchy fingers when you see those weeds feel free to join us (most) Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 11 starting May 3rd, 2009. You'll find us with tools in our hands and a garden waste bag nearby or you can contact Michaelle and Patricia,
yukon99@rogers.com or patricia.cavanagh@uhn.on.ca."
PS - Clean Up Day in the Park, tomorrow 10am to 12 noon. It's nothing to give even 15 minutes of your time to pick up some of that stuff left on the ground by.....litter bugs. Meet us at the back of the Rec Centre to pick up any supplies you need. We can also assign you an 'official' sector!
The Friends would like to give a huge thank you to all the generous and committed community volunteers that came out to help clean up the park this past Saturday. You were a modest crew (and you know who you are!), but hard-core to the bone in your care for our green space. This is real 'front-line' work that most shy away from, but not you guys! We enjoyed seeing the familiar faces and warmly welcomed the new ones. Hope you'll find yourself at Spring Park Day on May 31st. Won't be no garbage picking up, nope. It'll be fun stuff like mulching, planting etc. Stay tuned.....
SATURDAY APRIL 25th, 10am to 12noon.
The Friends of Trinity Bellwoods Park will be meeting at the Rec Centre (front and/or back entrance) to partake in the Mayor's Annual Community Clean Up Day. It's a great way to welcome the warmer weather and contribute, with your neighbours, towards keeping our Park clean and safe. So come on out, even if for half an hour, every bit counts!
Check in with us for for a designated area to clean up. Or just clean up at will. We'll have garbage bags, but please feel free to bring your own recycled plastic bags from home. Once your bag(s) are filled, bring them to back of the Rec Centre to the main garbage pile.
Look forward to your help! Oh ya, we be doing it rain or shine.
Also check website calendar for upcoming events!

**THIS IS A CALL OUT FOR ANYONE IN IN OUR DOG COMMUNITY THAT WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND THIS INFO MEETING. As you will read below, our park has been selected for a 'green bin' pilot program for our dogs/owners that use the park. This is a really cool thing, especially if you are a dog owner and care about the environment. Currently the Friends Dog Committee via Dog Assoc. liaison position is vacant. And we really, really, would like to continue the relationship. If you are a dog owner and willing to help us by attending and give us a brief report on the pilot program, please just go and contact me (market@trinitybellwoods.ca) after. If you are so inclined, you could also drop me a line prior to touch base. There is an attachment as well. Thank you! Carolyn
Friends of Trinity Bellwoods Park general winter meeting at the TRC. Generally we will be in 2nd floor Art Room, if not ask the front desk or look around. We won't be far. The focus of meeting will be tree inventory proposal presented by Victoria and other topics. It's an important meeting if you are interested in our park and trees. Fun Fact: Did you know that the Park used to have arbourarium status? Well, this tree inventory is the first step towards gaining that back. It also fits well into the 5 year planting plan. So pull up them snow boots, put on yer winter coat and join us! Look forward to seeing you all.
If you would like to volunteer and be a part of our amazing group of Green house tenders, please e-mail me at greenspace@trinitybellwoods.ca. To get an idea of what's going on, click the 'Greenhouse' tab at the top of this website page.

Well, after some false starts this inaugural season - sincere apologizes - looks like today the weather (no rain!) is smiling on us. By all accounts the hot-choco will be served up between 3pm and 5pm today at the rink.
All skaters and sledders welcome!
Please, BYO Mugs if you can. We will supply eco cups if you forget.
(I will host the initial Sunday and Patricia Arseneau has agreed to share alternate Sundays with me but we welcome and encourage any volunteers who would like to take on a shift during the 12 week season. Please contact me at karen.mackenna@sympatico.ca if you are interested)
We look forward to seeing everyone on the ice!

Hello everyone -
Just a reminder about the get together at the rink this coming Sat Dec 6th at 10:30am. I hope that time is still good for at least some of you. Let's meet at the rink entrance..
Id like to do introductions and then a walk around with brainstorming. I have been collecting information from the city about what the limitations and opportunities for planting in this area. I also have a plant list I can bring but at this point we should come to some decision about locations for the planting. The plant list may not be too negotiable.
