Dear Neighbours,
You are invited to the unveiling of the Heritage Toronto plaque in commemoration the buried Crawford Street Bridge and the opening of the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market.
Tuesday May 13, 2008
At 4:00 pm
Trinity Bellwoods Park, on Crawford Street, south of Dundas Street West
Light refreshments will be served!
At the north end of Trinity Bellwoods Park, Crawford Street is a roadway over a graceful triple-span concrete bridge which still exists, but is now buried beneath the street. This bridge once crossed a ravine carved by Garrison Creek as it flowed from north of St Clair into Lake Ontario adjacent to Fort York. The plaque marks the location of the bridge with interpretive text, photos, and a map. The Bridge is part of a larger Garrison Creek Community Project to commemorate this lost river and it represents my attempt to bring back a memory of our neighbourhood and City's heritage. Please call my office at 416-392-4010 for more information. If you'd like a .pdf of the plaque, please email and we'll send it to you.
Sincerely,
Joe Pantalone
Deputy Mayor
City of Toronto
