BURDOCK ALERT

BURDOCK ALERT! BURDOCK ALERT!

If you've ever had to cut burdock burrs out of your dog's coat, your kid's hair or your own socks you know how irritating they are. Here's your chance to get back at them.

The prickly Burdock weeds are already in bloom and it's now or never for cutting them down at ground level. Our Parks staff are spread thin around the city and it seems unlikely they will be able to revisit the park in the next few days but we can make a difference.

A Blossoming Gift to Trinity Bellwoods Park

If you've noticed, a whole bunch of baby trees have been planted along the paths leading to Queen/Gorevale entrance. Please read about this wonderful gift to our park......

Don't Pave Our Park Petition - Update!

Thanks to your support, over 100 people signed the Don't Pave Our Park petition in under one week. We forwarded the results to Councilor Pantalone and the City on March 5th.

Councillor Pantalone responded (attached below) and indicated that "I insisted that Cycling Infrastructure “go back to the drawing board” to reformulate the proposed multi-use path upgrade. They will be looking at changes to the final design that incorporate and address resident concerns such as: maintaining green space, minimizing the intensity, speed, and amount of cycling traffic, and options for path surfaces. I am advocating that the proposed path be not even one inch wider."

Temp Dogs off-leash area this weekend

ACAPO FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND – TEMPORARY DOGS OFF-LEASH AREA

For ACAPO this coming weekend, June 6,7,8, the Parks, Forestry & Recreation. has agreed to make the ‘Bellwoods Park’ area of the park the official off leash zone - this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is the area bordered by Dundas, Shaw and Crawford - where the Farmers Market is located on Tuesdays - which is regularly on-leash. The market organizers ask dog owners to please be respectful to our market location and to pick up after your pets, as there are environment health concerns. Also please be mindful of the recently mulched areas under some trees.
