TRINITY BELLWOODS GREENHOUSE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
AGENDA - FEBRUARY 12, 2011

1) Introductions to 2011 Management Committee - Anna Hill (Volunteer Coordinator), Brenda McCrank (Secretary), Gary Hanrahan (Treasurer) Sylvia Crowhurst (Greenhouse Gardener)

2) 2010 Treasury Report

3) Donations - $30 per person or community group is recommended but please pay what you can. If you can afford more, we would be grateful for your donation. Tax deductible receipts are available from our treasurer, Gary, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Money will be used for soils, containers, tools and construction. The $10 increase in the recommended donation for 2011 has to do with the fact that we are unsure if Friends of Trinity Bellwoods will be able to financially support us this year.

4) Keys - New key to east door. West door key does not work. Contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you would like a key.

5) Community Groups - Please let me know how many shelves your community group needs this year. Space is very tight! Please use one shelf, if you can, two shelves if you must and three if you really serve LOTS OF PEOPLE. We have never had to turn people away and hope to again serve everyone who wants to use the green house.

1) Christie Pits Community Garden
2) Architecture for Humanity
3) CARE
4) Pierre Elliot Trudeau
5) Friends of Trinity Bellwoods
6) Bellwoods Playschool
7) Liberty Village Kids Preschool
8) Givins Shaw Public School

5) How to Claim Your Shelf - One shelf per individual and 1-3 shelves per community group, depending upon how many people are being served.

6) Red/Yellow/Green Watering System

7) Volunteer Responsibilities -Sign into the log book when you arrive and record your activities and observations such as temperature, any pests, construction repairs needed, soil supply is low etc. Do not leave any trash in the greenhouse, sweep up, wipe down the tables and lock the door when you leave. No food allowed in the greenhouse as we have had problems with mice.

8) Committees -Please volunteer for one of the following four committees:

Soils/Containers-Ideally, people in this group have a car as they will be responsible for supplying containers and trays and keeping the soil bins filled at the greenhouse. This group needs to propose a better system for cleaning and returning containers as we have a problems with dirty pile ups and vanishing containers.

Water/Pests-Ideally, we have 14 people in this group so that there is an AM and PM waterer ever day from late winter through late spring. This group will need to establish our watering protocol. Do we water seedling trays from below and allow water to wick up? Do we allow standing water in the green house? Do we top water once seedlings have germinated? Also, If we have pest problems, these same people will be responsible for checking the plants, notifying owners and taking steps to mitigate the problem.

Construction/Repairs-Ideally, these volunteers have construction experience and access to materials.
.
Greenhouse Garden Group-Help clean up the garden in spring, thinning plants etc., help repair fencing and add logs to re-establish existing beds, continue mapping plants and labelling, help on Spring Park Day, especially planting annuals from High Park Greenhouse, help establish space for new plants.

9) Green House Goals for 2011

10) Mentoring - If anyone has not used the green house before and needs a mentor, please let us know and we will find someone to help get you started.

Thanks for your participation and remember, once the shelves are gone, they are gone! Please do not delay in responding to me about whether or not you will be involved in 2011. Hope to see you on February 12th!
